I am blind to the future. I am blind to what it hold. I am blind. My next steps are shaky, my mind fluctuating with anxiety and hopeless joyful abandon. One moment fully present, the next wrestling with the great unknown. The only console is find a way to create; to have some control or understanding of something small that brings peace to the large things out of my grasp.
In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.
Albert Einstein

The plus side of blindness if there is one, is that the other senses are intensified. Touch. Smell. Taste. Sound. And likewise in this time of the unknown other aspects of life are intensified. The value of relationships. The value of crafting your own projects and passions and not others. The focus to see projects through. The value of other’s time, talents, and treasures.
What should we create or build into others. For me its bed sheets.
Asking people for their bed sheets,
Asking people for their stories.
Asking people for their vulnerability.
Asking people for the goods to create art.
And giving people the opportunity to share. Giving people a listening ear. Giving people an opportunity to be involved. Giving people the gift of time and attention. And to tell the truth I receive way more than I give.
The Bed sheet project is taking a fabric from someone, asking them the question “What do you cover in life?” and then creating art from those two things. So far the journey has been beyond what I imagined. I have so many gems of sharing the sacred space with friends and people and hear what others cover. Vicariously, more often then I’d like to admit, I cover the same things. And they are said in a way that I can’t articulate myself. And illuminate what we cover as in society or religion or in relationship or in family or in church or as society.
So if I have to be blind for a season and put career and aspirations on hold I know that it will all be worth it for some bed sheets and stories.

If you are reading this and want to be involved, weather by meeting in person or remotely.
