The Bedsheet Chronicles is an exploration of the question, “What do you cover in life?” A call to more meaningful conversation and sacred introspection. This project serves as a personal and communal catharsis through the mediums of woodwork, fabric, light, projection, and installation. All of the fabric in the project are donated by community members at bedsheet interviews, where they discuss the concept “What do you cover?”.
The inaugural solo exhibition of The Bedsheet Chronicles took place at The Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center in Post Falls, Idaho, in January 2022. The experiential exhibition featured 35 original bedsheet pieces, accompanied by a video projection of “Inner Beauty,” “Machais,” and “What I Had.” Patrons were encouraged to inscribe what they cover on scrap sheets from the project and hang them on a tree, evoking the spirit of the Celtic tradition of “The Clootie Well.”

Inner Beauty is a series of works inspired by the artist’s mother’s coming of age story. It explores themes of identity, upbringing, and religion and the healing that comes from truly being seen.
This series of artworks, accompanied by a projection explores my father’s coming of age story and explores the effect of environment on identity and self discovery, originating from the quaint lumber town of Machias, Washington.
A collaboration with Betsey Beckman, a liturgical dancer and storyteller based in Seattle. Betsey’s “bedsheet” interview entailed the release of her son relocating out of state. A year later, we reconvened at her son’s new property, to dance symbolizing a mother’s trust and release associated with letting go.
Videography by Sharie Bowman, music by Chaz and Charlie Bommarito.
