Elevate Yourself

The space above spans six stories high to a ceiling skylight offering a flood of light on the interior of the WeWork space, where one of my friends go to get his work done.

WeWork Motto: DO WHAT YOU LOVE

An intention space for people to commune for industry and art and where personalities collide. And I am here because of a friend. And actually most things I have gotten to do or have received have been the product of a friendship. I moved to Seattle because of a random acquaintance connected me with a director who offered me housing. I will have a roommate because of a friend, I will have a bike because of a friend, I got exposed to different cultures and lifestyle in LA and San Francisco because of a friend. We are so much stronger together. I got a therapist because of a friend. I got a singing job because of a friend. I got a meal because of many, many friends. I get the chance to elevate myself and others because of friendships. I get to become a better Duncan because of friends. We are stronger together.

I am sitting on a couch with my mind instinctively knowing there is six stories of distance between the top of my head and the ceiling skylight. There is 130 steps to the top of the floor to get to the skylight along the way with each step is different people, different connections, different offerings, differing opportunities to give and to receive . . . And as I get higher I can give more. Staying on the ground level and admiring the expansiveness above me and the seemingly unattainable offices on the other floors is no longer an option. It is time that I take some steps and elevate, and bridge the divide between the different levels. It is time to make steps and leaps into new dimensions of light and community.

Next step, at the beginning of July 2019, moving into Lower Queen Anne, minutes away from this beach . . .
